Why honey bees make the ultimate sacrifice when they sting you?

Have you ever been stung by a bee? Did you know, a bee will die after stinging?

Only female bees have the ability to sting because the stingers are also an alternative tool to lay eggs. The reason they even sting, is because they feel threatened and their priority is to protect the queen bee. The stingers are barbed and sticks into the skin layer, although it does not stick into all animal’s skin. A bee could sting another larger insect for example, and be able to remove a stinger safely. For human’s and other animals with much thicker skin, the stinger will get stuck. So, when the bee tries to escape after stinging, she ends up breaking off her rear end and disembowels herself to death.
