It can be found on Indonesian islands, throughout the eastern rain forests of Cape York in Australia and Papua New Guinea. These snakes are the epitome of beauty. They have unique, silver eyes and are usually covered in blue or bluegreen scales. These emerald-green reptiles are non-poisonous, nocturnal, tree dwelling snakes.

Since they are not venomous, these snakes have a few unique and highly successful hunting techniques to subdue their prey. The tips of a green tree python is of different colour from the rest of their body and this is used to attract prey directly within their strike range. Another technique is by using their long, sharp teeth to grab hold of ground dwelling rodents from above, constrict it and then consume it whole. During the juvenile years of this 1.5 metres long python, it appears in vibrant yellow or red colour enabling it to blend in with coloured leaves and fruits. However, as they mature, they change to a vibrant green hence becoming the masters of camouflage in its habitat! [/ihc-hide-content]
