These companies are members of the MTDC’s Centre of 9 pillar (Co9P) ecosystem, a communitybased centre which helps nurture new Industry 4.0 (I4.0) innovations that will help accelerate technology scale-up for small and medium sized organisations.
Dato’ Norhalim Yunus, Chief Executive Officer of MTDC said these programmes aim to expose children of this era of industrial revolution to a more realistic future by looking into new career prospects such as drone engineering.
“During the drone workshop, children were given hands on experience with handling drones. They were taught how to program a drone, carry on some simple obstacles and were also given drones to be brought back to their homes so that they could practice what they have learnt.”
“Children normally only require some exposure. Once they know the basics of drone, they are good to explore on their own. They could possibly even participate in competitions. And that is what MTDC provides them with – the exposure,” he added. MTDC’s CSR programmes reaches children from all social status without discrimination including those underprivileged children.
MTDC sees this as an opportunity to increase the face value of MTDC by connecting with the public to create awareness for teens and youngsters to better understand the importance and benefits of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Other CSR programmes that have been conducted by MTDC in 2019 were on Solar Technology Application for Orang Asli in Sabah and Techno Entrepreneurship Workshop for the disable.
