PROGRAMMING has been made fun and easy by ProjectMika, a Malaysian company who started implementing the importance of programming among the young generation. ProjectMika kick started their journey by educating primary students through private classes.
With the support and demand received, ProjectMika then started penetrating into primary schools.
The modules used to educate school students are based on a simple block programming which help [ihc-hide-content ihc_mb_type=”show” ihc_mb_who=”2,3″ ihc_mb_template=”1″ ] students grasp the theory behind programming.
Block programming is as simple as just dragging and dropping commands on the computer screen to experience the effects of programming. ProjectMika carries a pocketsized computer called microbit to schools. With the knowledge of block programming, students are able to code, customise and control the microbit by themselves.
ProjectMika has six programming modules in total. At the end of the sixth module, students will be able to fly a drone with the knowledge they have gained.
According to Mohammed Ariffin Zainal Abidin, the Chief Marketing Officer of ProjectMika, students enjoy learning programming when it is made this simple.
“We hope to inspire the students to be the next owners of huge businesses like Grab and AirBnB because all of these involve coding and with it, everything is made available at our finger tips. It is this simple coding that has massively disrupted the monopoly of hotels and taxi services,” he added.
