SETIA ALAM: The third Selangor International Expo saw more than 250 local and international companies exhibiting their products and services.
The event was officiated by HRH the Raja Muda Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Al-Haj in Setia City Convention Centre on Sept 14.
In his speech, Datuk Teng Cheng Khim, Selangor State Senior Executive Councillor for Investment, Industry & Commerce, SME & Transportation, said [ihc-hide-content ihc_mb_type=”show” ihc_mb_who=”2,3,5″ ihc_mb_template=”1″ ]that the international expo has been effective in setting up Selangor as a global trading hub.
He also said the expo is also aimed to provide exposure and information on latest technologies while being the perfect avenue for marketing, collaboration and partnerships.
He noted that Selangor enjoys a greatly developed infrastructure, advanced commercial ecosystem and a well-established investment heaven backed by excellent state government support to help the business community do their businesses here, and more importantly, become part of the regional trading hub.
The fastest growing sectors were namely life sciences and F&B, as well as halal market segments.
They were featured for the first time in this year’s expo.
About 400 booths were put up by companies from Asean, Japan, China, Taiwan and Spain, to name a few.
The expo was a concluding event for the ten-day Selangor International Business Summit which included the Selangor Smart City & Future Commerce Convention and the Selangor-Asean Business Conference.
The convention has attracted 5000 exhibition visitors and 3000 conference participants this year.
According to Teng, the Smart City and Future Commerce Forum was one of the most comprehensive and educational events in the country with over 60 speakers.
He also said: “We were privileged to have more than 20 prominent speakers and panellist sharing success stories, strategic insights and knowledge about the Asean region, providing great tips for participants and entrepreneurs to refine their strategies in exploiting opportunities offered by the region.”
