Reading Time: < 1 minute

JELLYFISH are creatures which are invertebrates forming blooms in the world’s ocean. It is a jelly-like living being which can be found in waters and some jellyfish are transparent in nature. They are generally composed of three layers, namely outer layer [ihc-hide-content ihc_mb_type=”show” ihc_mb_who=”2,3″ ihc_mb_template=”1″ ] called epidermis, middle layer which is made up of mesoglea a jellylike substance and finally, inner layer called gastrodermis.

Interestingly, 95% of jellyfish body is composed of water. If jellyfish is removed from water, as you would expect, it becomes much less of a fascinating blob.

With only 5% of its body made up of solid materials, this fascinating creature is a camouflage-able. These incredible invertebrates use their stinging tentacles to sting or paralyse prey before gobbling them up. Jellyfish stings can be excruciatingly painful to humans and, depending on certain species, they can also be deadly. [/ihc-hide-content]
