Reading Time: 2 minutes

PULAU INDAH: The Selangor Bio Bay (SBB) was recently launched in the state by its Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

The project developed by Central Spectrum (M) Sdn Bhd (CSSB) will host bioscience pursuits that include research institutes, laboratories, and biotech-related companies.
Spanning 10,12 acres of land in Pulau Indah, SBB is to be built in three phases and will also include biotechnology centres, industrial and commercial zones, residential areas and recreational parks.

Speaking at the launch, Azmin said the momentum gained by the biotechnology sector will be the catalyst for both Selangor’s and the nation’s growth.

“It will be a state-of-the-art biotechnology hub furnished with eco-friendly, high-tech infrastructure that meets end-to-end industrial, commercial and residential needs.

“With the development of Selangor Bio Bay, it will open job opportunities for the Selangor citizens and create investment opportunities that will generate economic growth,” he said.
The location of SBB which can be accessed by the Shah Alam Express Highway (Kesas) and South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE), is all the more strategic being near to shipping ports and complemented by a well-organised masterplan and infrastructure.

“In line with the concept of Selangor Smart City, it can be a global high-impact centre of investment,” said CEO of CSSB, Mahmud Abbas.

He also said the SBB project would become the only bio bay centre in Asia to be fully equipped with industrial, residential and recreational infrastructure.

“It offers far more advantages compared to the two other bio bay centres in China and India.

“In fact, we have received a number of positive feedback from international biotechnology companies which have expressed interest to begin their operations in the SBB,” he said, adding that the project would be open for sale by early next year.

The project worth RM5.5 billion is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
CSSB also signed the Memorandum of Understanding with KDS Global Ltd, a South Korean company which was represented by its director, Park Mee Nah during the same event.

The agreement was signed to develop the SBB foundation.
