SERDANG: The first anniversary celebration of the MTDC Technopreneur Training Centre (TENTRA) was officiated recently by its chief executive officer Datuk Norhalim Yunus.
In an interview with The Petri Dish, Norhalim said the academy will continue grooming novice technopreneurs through its signature programme called “Symbiosis” where face-to-face training, mentoring and advisory services are provided
The training is geared towards all stages of business development – seeding, start-up, growth and expansion to ensure sustainability of the companies.
Norhalim also said: “As a sub-brand, Tentra, fits in well in MTDC’s ecosystem as it supports the new and enhanced business direction of the company.”[ihc-hide-content ihc_mb_type=”show” ihc_mb_who=”2,3″ ihc_mb_template=”1″ ]
MTDC has been involved in three core businesses and areas of expertise which are fund management, technology centre as well as incubator, advisory and nurturing services for the past 25 years.
According to Norhalim, one of the main challenges faced by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are difficulties in financial management.
“We will oversee all of it and will be placing special emphasis on the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
“Every company is an important player in developing this revolution to future-proof businesses.
“Our main objectives are to assist SMEs to prepare for the revolution, technology-wise, and to create new SMEs that are already prepared to face the advent of the upcoming revolution ,” he said.
He also said other efforts that will be put in place, includes working with professional mentors from various fields like marketing and branding, so that technopreneurs can get the chance to network.
“We realise that if we do not embark on this course, we would be left behind. We need to speed up as fast as technology changes and accept the changes awaiting us in the future,” he said.
